1948 - 1958 Completed his primary, middle, and high school studies.

1941 وُلد الفنان سالم الدباغ في مدينة الموصل في شمال العراق.
1948 – 1958 أكمل دراسته المدرسية للابتدائية والمتوسطة والثانوية.
1958 - 1961 درس وتخرج من معهد الفنون الجميلة في بغداد.
1961 - 1965 درس وتخرج بأول دورة من اكاديمية الفنون الجميلة العليا في بغداد وأسس مع فنانين اخرين مثل صالح الجميعي وطالب مكي ونداء كاظم وفائق حسين وعلي طالب "جماعة المجددين" واشترك في معرضهم الأول.
