1939 Born in Al-Baroudia, from the old Baghdad neighborhoods, to a Baghdadi family.
1945-1958 Studied at Al-Tatbiquat Elementary School, then Al-Numaniya Middle School, then graduated from the Central High School in Baghdad (the oldest high school established in the nineteenth century in Baghdad by the governor Medhat Pasha, located next to Al-Qashla building, the center of the Ottoman governor). His first notices were when he saw the drawings of the painter Khalil Al-Azzawi and the sculptures of Kalid al-Rahhal, who had a place near his family's residence.
1962 Graduated from Baghdad University with a BA in Archeology.
1964 Graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts, obtained a diploma and joined the Impressionists Group. His works during this period were distinguished by his influence on the Baghdad environment and Iraqi folklore.
1965 Held a solo exhibition at the Wasiti Gallery in Baghdad. He participated in the exhibition of eight Iraqi artists in Gallery One in Beirut and the itinerant Iraqi art exhibition in Eastern countries and Europe.
1966 Held a solo exhibition at Gallery One, Beirut.
1967 Participated in the first biennale exhibition in New Delhi, India.
He was influenced in his artistic career by the Baghdadiyat of Jewad Selim, his uses of folkloric signs derived from the popular environment. He also inspired and used the form of crescents and Mesopotamian forms. He kept trying to mix and experiment between these combinations and the Arabic script, and through these attempts and experiments, he reached his style that combined all these elements with an experienced coloring ability to create the style that distinguished him in every era of his 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Dia Al-Azzawi's style is characterized by latent energy and a dominating local spirit and gives the viewer a distinct and perceptible aesthetic connection. He gathered all human emotions on the surfaces of his paintings and turned them into an aesthetic communication with the recipient.
1968 Worked as the Head of the Iraqi Antiquities Department in Baghdad for eight years, during which he supervised the preparation and display of archaeological finds in the Nasiriyah Museum, the Mosul Museum, and the Museum of Folk Costumes in Baghdad. He participated in the “Battle Exhibition” at the hall of the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
1969 Along with other Iraqi artists, such as Rafa Al-Nasiri, Ismail Fattah, Mohammad Muhraddin, Saleh Al-Jumaie, and Hashem Al-Samarchi, he founded the "Toward a New Vision Group". He wrote its founding statement, which was later joined by a number of other young artists, such as Ali Talib.
1970 Attended the first meeting at the home of artist Jamil Hammoudi with artist Ghazi Al-Kilani, artist Shakir Hassan Al-Said, and artist Rafa Nasiri to discuss the use of the Arabic letter in the painting, and it was agreed to organize an exhibition in this direction. He withdrew from the gathering with Rafa Nasiri due to a disagreement with Shakir Hassan Al-Said over how to set up the catalog and name the exhibition One Dimension. In the same year, he held a solo exhibition at the Sultan Gallery in Kuwait.
1971 Held a solo exhibition in the hall of the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad. He participated in the exhibition of modern art in Nicosia in Cyprus, the joint exhibition of four Iraqi artists at the hall of the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad, and the Iraqi Contemporary Art Gallery in cooperation with the Iraqi Artists Association in Kuwait.
The artist is considered one of the pioneers and promoters of several techniques in contemporary Iraqi plastic art, including the art of posters and book illustrations. In Posters/illustrations, he worked with a selected elite of Arab and Iraqi poets and writers and designed their poem collections, books, and novels, especially those that called for liberation and resistance to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian lands, as well as documenting the people's struggle and the Palestinian resistance. Through his works, he documented the tragedies, calamities, and battles of Arabs in Palestine and the occupation crimes against them. His murals and works became the loudest Arab cry for global conscience against war and injustice.
1972 A book entitled "A Witness from This Age - Diaries of a Martyr Who Was Killed in the Events of September 1970" was issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Information and included the artist's drawings and diaries of seven critical days about these events.
1973 Held a solo exhibition at Raslan Gallery in Tripoli, Lebanon.
1975 Held a solo exhibition at the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad, participated in the "Cagnes-Sur-Mer International Festival" in France, and the Summer Academy exhibition in Salzburg, and participated in the Iraqi Graphic Art exhibition at the Atelier Gallery in Rabat.
1976 Traveled to London and settled there and worked as an artistic advisor for the Iraqi Cultural Center. He held a solo exhibition at "Nadhar" Gallery in Casablanca, Morocco. He participated in the Second Arab Exhibition in Rabat, the Biennale Exhibition in Venice, and the Fifth International Exhibition of Painting in Rijeka.
1977 Began to rediscover the art of the book with what was called the experiment of "artistic notebooks." He is considered one of the pioneers of this method, and many Iraqi and Arab artists followed him later. He held a solo exhibition at "Sultan" Gallery in Kuwait.
1978 Published the book "The Body Anthem" about the massacre in the Tal Al-Zaatar camp in Beirut, with poems by three Arab poets. After that, a limited number of poetry books containing his drawings were published by some Iraqi and Arab poets. He held a solo exhibition at the "Patrick Seale" Gallery in London.
1979 Held a solo exhibition at Al-Riwaq Gallery in Baghdad and participated in the São Paulo Biennale in Brazil.
1980 Held a solo exhibition at the "Faris" Gallery in Paris and the "Galerie Centrale" in Geneva. He participated in the exhibition Salon de Mat in Paris, FIAC, and the "Salon d’Automne, Espace Cardin" in Paris.
1981 Held a solo exhibition at the "Art Basel - Faris Gallery" in Paris and at "FIAC - Faris Gallery" in Paris and participated in the "7th International Graphic Triennial" in Frechen.
1982 Worked as a design director at the Arab Art magazine until its closure. He held a solo exhibition at the "Intercontinental Hall" in Abu Dhabi. He participated in a group exhibition with Arab artists at the "Graffiti" Gallery in London and another at the "Faris" Gallery in Paris. He also published the Maqamat Al-Hariri manuscript with al-Wasiti drawings in limited numbers. Within the replica technique, and in 2008, he published the Antidote manuscript, a medical manuscript translated from Greek in limited numbers and within the replica technique.
1983 Held a solo exhibition, "Sabra and Shatila," in the hall of the National Council for Art and Culture in Kuwait and participated in a group exhibition with Arab artists at the Iraqi Cultural Center in London and another in the "Graffiti" gallery in London.
1984 Held a solo exhibition at the "Alif" Gallery in Washington, USA. He participated in the British International Biennial of Printing in Bradford and the First Arab Contemporary Exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Tunis.
1985 Held a solo exhibition at the Le Meridien Hotel in Abu Dhabi and participated in an exhibition at the "Musée Hubert d’Uckerman" in Grenoble.
1986 Held a solo exhibition at the Royal Cultural Center in Amman. He participated in the exhibition "Salon Comparisons - Grand Palais" in Paris, an exhibition at the Semitic Museum, Harvard University, Cambridge in Massachusetts, and the Contemporary Arab Art exhibition at "The Mall" Gallery in London.
1987 Participated in the 3rd International Biennale of Printing in Taiwan.

2009 Held a retrospective exhibition, ADMAF, Sixth Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Festival, Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi. He participated in the "Modernism and Iraq" exhibition at Columbia University, Wallach Art Gallery, New York.
2012 An exhibition of Lamentations for My Besieged City, the Exhibition of Modern Arab Art, and Letters in Art were held at the "Meme Gallery" in Dubai, and the Exhibition of Itinerary: Paintings and Gouache at the "Claude Lemand" Gallery in Paris.
2013 Held a solo exhibition, "Elegy to My Trapped City," at Meem Gallery in Dubai and "Dia Al-Azzawi, Oriental Gardens, Recent Paintings," at "Claude Lemand" Gallery in Paris. He participated in "Meem Projects 2012. Part 1: Letters in Art. Part 2: Modern Arab Art" at Meem Gallery, Abu Dhabi Art, Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi.
2014 Held a solo exhibition entitled "Dia Al-Azzawi: A Passion for Participation" in the "Claude Lemand" Gallery in Paris, the "Arab Modernism" Exhibition was held at the "Claude Lemand" Gallery in Paris, and "Frieze Masters" at Meem Gallery in London. He participated in the "Post-Picasso: Contemporary Reactions" at the Picasso Museum in Barcelona and the Gallery of Modern Paintings. "The Massacres and Joy of Living" at the "Claude Lemand" Gallery in Paris, the "Non-Bird Picture Exhibition" at the Hospice Saint Roch Museum in France, the exhibition of "Contemporary Arab Artists and Landscapes" and "Landscapes between Reality and Fiction" at the "Claude Lemand" Gallery in Paris. He also participated in the "Mathaf Collection - Al-Majles exhibition, Part 1" in Qatar and the Dia Al-Azzawi Exhibition: Selected Works from 1964-1973 at "Meem Gallery" in Dubai.
2015 An exhibition was held at Gallery "555" in Qatar, and participated in the exhibition "Art Dubai" with "Meem" Gallery in Dubai, the exhibition "Picasso in Contemporary Art" in Germany, and the exhibition "Main Land: Contemporary Art" from the Barjeel Art Foundation in Aga Khan Museum in Canada. And held a solo exhibition entitled "Dia Al-Azzawi Exhibition | Something Different | Sculpture and Weaving" at "Meem Gallery" in Dubai and the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association.
2016 - 2017 An exhibition entitled "I am the Scream, who will give a voice to me? Dia Al-Azzawi: A Retrospective (from 1963 until tomorrow)" was held at Mathaf in Qatar. He also participated in another exhibition called "My Broken Dream" exhibition at "Meem" Gallery in Dubai.
2017 Participated in the Abu Dhabi Art Exhibition in Abu Dhabi and held a solo exhibition entitled "Something Different from Another" at "The Karim" Gallery in Amman.
2019-2020 Participated in an exhibition, "Objects of Imagination – Contemporary Arab Ceramics," in Jordan National Museum Gallery with the participation of forty Arab artists from different Arab countries in Amman.
2020 Participated in the exhibition "Theater of Operations: The Gulf Wars 1991-2011" at the MOMA PS1 Museum in New York and the exhibition "Figure: Abstraction from the Arab World, 1950-1980" at the "Green Art" Gallery in New York.
2022 Held a solo exhibition entitled "Painting Poetry" at the Ashmolean Museum in the United Kingdom, which was dedicated to Azzawi’s art books from the 1980s till 2020s when the artist merged painting with poetry.
2023 Held an exhibition of ceramic works entitled “Imagination Realized” at Karim Gallery in Amman, in which he displayed twenty-five works.
2024 Awarded an honorary Doctor of Arts degree from Coventry University during a graduation ceremony at the university's headquarters in Coventry, situated in the West Midlands region of central England.
2024 He was awarded the “Great arab Minds” award in the field of literature and arts by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.
He currently resides in London, devoting his time to art in his studio.

- 1939 وُلد الفنان ضياء العزاوي في محلّة البارودية من محلات بغداد القديمة لعائلة بغدادية.

- 1945 - 1958 درس في مدرسة التطبيقات الابتدائية ثم متوسطة النعمانية ثم في تخرج من الثانوية المركزية في بغداد (أقدم ثانوية أسست في القرن التاسع عشر في بغداد من قبل الوالي مدحت باشا وتقع جوار مبنى القشلة مركز الوالي العثماني). كانت انتباهاته الأولى مشاهدة رسوم الرسام خليل العزاوي، والاطلاع على أعمال نحتية لخالد الرحال الذي كان له محل قرب سكن عائلته.

- 1962 تخرج من جامعة بغداد وحصل على شهادة البكالوريوس في علم الآثار.

- 1964 تخرج من معهد الفنون الجميلة ونال شهادة الدبلوم وانضمّ إلى جماعة الانطباعيين. حيث تميزت أعماله هذه الفترة بتأثره بالبيئة البغدادية والفولكلور الشعبي العراقي.

- 1965 أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري الواسطي في بغداد واشترك في معرض ثمانية فنانين عراقيين في كاليري "ون" في بيروت ومعرض الفن العراقي المتجول في الدول الشرقية واوروبا.

- تأثر في مسيرته الفنية ببغداديات جواد سليم واستخداماته للإشارات الفلكلورية المستقاة من البيئة الشعبية كذلك استوحى واستخدم شكل الأهلة والأشكال الرافيدينية، وظل يحاول المزج والتجريب والمحاولة بين هذه التركيبات وبين الحرف العربي، ومن خلال هذه المحاولات والتجارب توصل إلى أسلوبه الخاص الذي جمع كل هذه العناصر وبقدرة تلوينية متمرسة ليخلق أسلوبه الذي تميز به في كل حقبة من حقب مسيرته السبعينية ثم الثمانينية ثم التسعينية. يتميز أسلوب ضياء العزاوي بطاقة كامنة وروح محلية مسيطرة ويمنح المشاهد تواصل جمالي محسوس ومميز. لقد جمع كل عواطف الإنسان على سطوح لوحاته وحوّلها إلى تواصل جمالي مع المتلقي.

- 1968 عمل مسؤولاً في دائرة الآثار العراقية في بغداد لمدة ثمان سنوات، أشرف خلالها على تجهيز وعرض اللقى الاثارية في متحف الناصرية، ومتحف الموصل ومتحف الأزياء الشعبية في بغداد. واشترك في معرض المعركة على قاعة المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.

- 1969 أسس مع فنانين عراقيين آخرين مثل رافع الناصري واسماعيل فتاح ومحمد مهر الدين وصالح الجميعي وهاشم السمرجي "جماعة نحو رؤيا جديدة" وكتب بيانها التأسيسي والتي أنضمّ اليها لاحقا عدد آخر من الفنانين الشباب مثل علي طالب.

- 1970 حضر الاجتماع الأول في منزل الفنان جميل حمودي مع الفنان غازي الكيلاني، الفنان شاكر حسن والفنان رافع الناصري لمناقشة استخدام الحرف العربي في اللوحة وتم الاتفاق على تنظيم معرض بهذا الاتجاه، انسحب من التجمع مع رافع الناصري لخلاف مع شاكر حسن حول طريقة تهيئة الكاتلوك وتسمية المعرض بالبُعد الواحد. في نفس العام، أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري "سلطان" في الكويت.

- 1971 أقام معرض شخصي على قاعة المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد واشترك في معرض الفن الحديث في نيقوسيا في قبرص والمعرض المشترك لأربعة فنانين عراقيين على قاعة المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد ومعرض الفن العراقي المعاصر بالتعاون مع جمعية الفنانين العراقيين في الكويت.

- يعتبر الفنان من رواد ومروجي عدة تقنيات في الفن التشكيلي العراقي المعاصر ومنها فن الملصقات الجدارية، والرسم في الكتب. وفي الملصقات الجدارية فقد عمل مع النخبة المختارة من شعراء وأدباء عرب وعراقيين وصمم لهم دواوينهم ومؤلفاتهم وخاصة تلك التي كانت تدعو للتحرر ومقاومة الاحتلال الإسرائيلي للأراضي الفلسطينية وكذلك عمل على توثيق نضال الشعب والمقاومة الفلسطينية ووثق من خلال أعماله مآسي ونكبات ومعارك العرب في فلسطين وجرائم الاحتلال ضدهم. وصارت جدارياته وأعماله أعلى صرخة عربية للوجدان العالمي ضد الحرب والظلم.

- 1972 أصدر كتاب بعنوان "شاهد من هذا العصر – يوميات شهيد قُتل في أحداث – أيلول 1970” من قبل وزارة الاعلام العراقية وكانت تتضمن رسوم الفنان ويوميات عن سبع أيام حاسمة عن هذه الأحداث.

- 1973 أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري رسلان في طرابلس في لبنان.

- 1975 أقام معرض شخصي في المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد، واشترك في معرض "كان سور مير الدولي" في فرنسا، ومعرض الاكاديمية الصيفية في سالزبرغ، واشترك في معرض الفن الجرافيكي العراقي في كاليري لاتيليه في الرباط.

- 1976 سافر إلى لندن واستقر هناك وعمل مستشاراً فنياً للمركز الثقافي العراقي. أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري "نظر" في الدار البيضاء في المغرب واشترك في المعرض العربي الثاني في الرباط، ومعرض البينالي في البندقية، والمعرض العالمي الخامس للرسومات في ريجيكا.

- 1977 بدأ اعادة اكتشاف فن الكتاب بما سُمي تجربة "الدفاتر الفنية" ويعتبر أحد رواد هذه الطريقة وقد تبعه لاحقا العديد من الفنانين العراقيين والعرب. وأقام معرض شخصي في كاليري "سلطان" في الكويت.

- 1978 أصدر كتاب "النشيد الجسدي" عن مجزرة مخيم تل الزعتر في بيروت مع قصائد لثلاثة شعراء عرب. وبعدها تم اصدار كتب شعرية محدودة العدد لبعض الشعراء العراقيين والعرب تحوي رسوماته. وأقام معرض شخصي في كاليري "باترك سيل" في لندن.

- 1979 أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري الرواق في بغداد واشترك في بينالي "ساو باولو" في البرازيل.

- 1980 أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري "فارس" في باريس، وفي معرض "سنترال" في جنيف واشترك في معرض صالون "دي مارت" في باريس، وFIAC، ومعرض صالون الخريف في كاليري "ايسباس كاردن" في باريس.

- 1981 أقام معرض شخصي في سوق بازل للفنون - كاليري "فارس" في باريس، وفي FIAC - كاليري "فارس" في باريس، واشترك في الترينالي الدولي السابع للكرافيك في "فرشن".

- 1989 اشترك في معرض الفن المعاصر من العالم الإسلامي في مركز "باربيكان" في لندن ومعرض الفن العربي الكرافيكي - NCCL في كويت.

- 1990 أقام عدة معارض شخصية في كاليري "ألف" في واشنطن وفي كاليري "نكيتا" في ستوكهولم وفي كاليري "فانازف" في غوتنبرغ وفي كاليري "دي ارت" في تونس.

- 1991 أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري " 50 * 70 " في بيروت واشترك في معرض للفن العراقي المعاصر في جامعة نيفادا في الولايات المتحدة.

- 1992 أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري فلاندريا في طنجة.

- 1994 أقام عدة معارض شخصية في كاليري "المنار" في الدار البيضاء وفي كاليري أبعاد في عمان وكاليري " 50 * 70 " في بيروت وفي كاليري "السيد" في دمشق.

- 1995 أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس.

- 1996 أقام معرض شخصي في مركز الفنون في البحرين.

- 1997 اشترك في معرض خمس تأويلات بصرية في كاليري "جرين ارت" في دبي.

- 1998 اشترك في معرض مع الفنان رافع الناصري بعنوان "عزاوي & ناصري" في كاليري "الصباغة" في باريس.

- 1999 اشترك في مهرجان "صيف 99 - خمسون عاماً من فن الجرافيك العراقي المعاصر" في دارة الفنون - مؤسسة عبد الحميد شومان في عمان في الاردن.

- 2000 اشترك في معرض رحلات مع الفنون المعاصرة في العالم العربي - فنانون معاصرون من وادي الرافدين في دارة الفنون - مؤسسة عبد الحميد شومان في عمان في الاردن.

- 2001 اشترك في معرض "مشرق – مغرب لوحات وكتب" في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس.

- 2002 أقام معرض استعادي في معهد العالم العربي في باريس، واشترك في معرض اساتذة لوحة التوندو في كاليري " كلود ليماند" في باريس، ومعرض "مجموعة مؤسسة كندة" في معهد العالم العربي في باريس.

- 2003 أقام معرض فلسطين ومحمود درويش: بولبتكس، رسومات، لوحات، طباعات وكتب وفي "سيتي دو ليفر" في ايكس ان بروفنس واشترك في معرض مؤسسة كولاس في بولونيا ومعرض الحرف المكسور - فن حديث من بلاد عربية في كونسثال في دارمستاد في ألمانيا.

- 2004 أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري "كلود ليماند" بعنوان لوحات جديدة في باريس، وفي سوق ستراسبورغ الفني في باريس، واشترك في معرض كتب فنية ولوحات في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس.

- 2005 أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري "كلود ليماند" بعنوان لوحات جديدة في باريس، واشترك في معرض صورة الطائر غير الموجود - كتب فنية ولوحات في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس، ومعرض تحية إلى شفيق عبود في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس، ومعرض كتب الفن الحديث لجامعة تكساس الشمالية في تكساس.

- 2006 أقام معرض شخصي في كاليري كلمات في حلب، وفي دارة الفنون في الكويت، وفي كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس، واشترك في معرض صورة الطائر غير الموجود في "باستيا فيستيفال اوف ارتس" في باستيا - كورسيكا، ومعرض الكلمة في الفن في المتحف البريطاني في لندن.

- 2007 اشترك في معرض "دفاتر: فن الكتاب العراقي المعاصر" في مركز فنون الكتاب بنيويورك. مينيابوليس أثينيوم ، مينيابوليس ، مينيسوتا ؛ متحف NIU للفنون ، ديكالب ، إلينوي ؛ مركز جافي لفنون الكتاب ، بوكا راتون ، فلوريدا.

- 2008 اشترك في معرض الكلمة في الفن للمتحف البريطاني في DIFC ووالمعرض الاستعادي للفنان ضياء العزاوي في "ميم كاليري" في دبي في الامارات، واشترك في المعرض الاستعادي في مهرجان أبو ظبي السادس للموسيقى والفنون في أبو ظبي، ومعرض ماضي العراق يحاور الحاضر في المتحف البريطاني في لندن، ومعرض فنانين عراقيين في المنفى في متحف المحطة للفن الحديث.

- 2009 اشترك في معرض لمجموعة أبو ظبي للثقافة والفنون في مهرجان أبو ظبي السادس للموسيقى والفنون في أبو ظبي ومعرض آخر في جامعة كولوبيا، كاليري والاش آرت في نيويورك.

- 2012 أقام معرض رثاء لمدينتي المحاصرة، ومعرض الفن العربي الحديث، والرسائل في الفن في "ميم كاليري" في دبي، ومعرض خط سير: لوحات والغواش في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس.

- 2013 أقام معرض تجريد - منصة الفن المعاصر في الكويت، ومعرض الفن العراقي الحديث: مجموعة في "كاليري ميم" في دبي، ومعرض روائع عربية، ومعرض لوحة وشعر في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس، ومعرض الفن العربي الحديث والفن العربي المعاصر - كيف تنام في الليل؟ في "كاليري ميم" في دبي، ومعرض أطفال غزة في كاليري ميم في دبي.

- 2014 أقام معرض شخصي بعنوان ضياء العزاوي: شغف للمشاركة في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس، واقيم معرض الحداثة العربية في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس، ومعرض ما بعد بيكاسو: ردود الفعل المعاصرة في متحف بيكاسو في برشلونة، ومعرض اللوحات الحديثة: مذابح وفرح المعيشة في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس، ومعرض صورة الطائر الغير الموجود في متحف هوسبيس سانت روش في فرنسا، ومعرض الفنانون العرب المعاصرون والمناظر الطبيعية، ومعرض المناظر الطبيعية بين الواقع والخيال في كاليري "كلود ليماند" في باريس. كما اشترك في معرض مجموعة متحف - الملخص، الجزء الأول في قطر ومعرض ضياء العزاوي: أعمال مختارة 1964-1973 في "كاليري ميم" في دبي.

- 2015 أقام معرض في كاليري " 555" في قطر، واشترك في معرض " Art Dubai" مع "كاليري ميم" في دبي، ومعرض "بيكاسو" في الفن المعاصر في المانيا، ومعرض "الأرض الرئيسية: الفن المعاصر" من مؤسسة برجيل للفنون في متحف اغا خان في كندا. وأقام معرض شخصي بعنوان "معرض ضياء العزاوي |شيء مختلف| النحت والنسيج" في كاليري ميم في دبي، والمعرض السنوي لجمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين.

- 2016 – 2017 أقام معرض بعنوان "أنا الصرخة، من سيعطي صوتًا لي؟ ضياء العزاوي: نظرة استرجاعية (من 1963 حتى الغد)" في المتحف في قطر ومعرض حلمي المكسور في "كاليري ميم" في دبي.

- 2017 اشترك في معرض Abu Dhabi Art في أبو ظبي، وأقام معرض شخصي بعنوان "شيء مختلف الثاني" في "كاليري كريم" في عمان.

- 2019 – 2020 اشترك في معرض "كائنات المخيال - معرض الخزف العربي المعاصر" في المتحف الأردني للفنون باشتراك أربعين فناناً عربياً من بلدان عربية مختلفة في عمان.

- 2020 اشترك في معرض مسرح العمليات: حروب الخليج 1991-2011 في متحف MOMA PS1 في نيويورك ومعرض الشكل: تجريد من العالم العربي، 1950 - 1980 في كاليري "جرين ارت" في نيويورك.

- 2022 أقام معرض بعنوان "رسم الشعر" في متحف أشموليان في المملكة المتحدة والذي خُصص لدفاتر الفنان الممتد تاريخها من ثمانينيات القرن العشرين إلى عشرينات القرن الحادي والعشرين، والتي دمج فيها الشعر بالرسم.

- 2023 أقام معرض لأعمال السيراميك بعنوان "تخيّلات متحقّقة" في غاليري كريم في عمّان وعرض فيه خمسةً وعشرين عملاً.

- 2024 مُنح الدكتوراه الفخرية في الفنون من جامعة كوفنتري البريطانية في حفل تخرج جرى في مقر الجامعة في مدينة كوفنتري في ويست ميد لاند في وسط إنكلترا.

- 2024 مُنح جائزة نوابغ العرب في حقل الآداب والفنون من قبل الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم نائب رئيس الوزراء في حكومة دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة وحاكم دبي.

- يقيم حالياً في لندن متفرغاً للفن في الأستوديو الخاص به.
