1935 Artist Hamid Al-Attar was born in Karbala, Iraq.
1955 He obtained a law degree from the College of Law in Baghdad.
He studied art during his study of under the supervision of a renowned group of Iraqi modern artist in Baghdad, such as Atta Sabri, Ismail al-Cheikhli, Faik Hassan and others. He befriended a group of creative artists such as Kadhum Haider, Mohammed Muhraddin, Eidan Al-Sheikhli, Faisal Laibi and dozens of others from Iraq's finest plastic artists.
1963 He left for Berlin, where he also studied art, and then came back to Iraq.
1980 He moved between Damascus, Beirut, Cairo where obtained a high diploma in Art Criticism from Cairo University.
He choseLondon to live in and then decided to settled in since the eighties.
He received an honorary award from the "Cagnes-sur-Mer" International Festival in France.
1983 He was a guest of the Union of Fine Arts in Damascus - Syria, where he exhibited some works in the People's Hall.
He participated in the UK Art Tour: Brunei Gallery, London; University of Exeter.
2000 He participated in "Hotbath" Exhibition in the USA: Grinnell College in Iowa.
He participated in many visual art exhibitions in Iraq and abroad, and his last joint exhibition was in London several years before his death.
Ten years before his death, he stopped painting and retired from real life, after suffering from depression and a permanent feeling of loneliness.
December 22, 2016 The artist passed away in his apartment in a suburb of London at the age of eighty-one, leaving behind distinguished creative works distributed in some national museums and art collections, including the National Collection of Modern Art in Baghdad.

1935 وُلد الفنان حميد العطار في مدينة كربلاء في العراق.
1955 حصل على شهادة في القانون من كلّية الحقوق في بغداد.
1956 - 1962 درس الفن على يد مجموعة من مؤسسي الفن الحديث في العراق مثل عطا صبري وإسماعيل الشيخلي وفائق حسن وغيرهم. وزامل وصادق مجموعة من الفنانين المبدعين مثل كاظم حيدر ومحمد مهر الدين وعيدان الشيخلي وفيصل لعيبي وعشرات آخرين من خيرة فناني العراق التشكيليين.
1963 غادر إلى برلين ودرس فيها الفن أيضاً وعاد بعدها إلى العراق.
1980 تنقل بين دمشق وبيروت والقاهرة والتي حصل على دبلوم عالي في النقد الفني من جامعة القاهرة.
استقر منذ الثمانينات في لندن.
حصل على جائزة شرفية من مهرجان "Cagnes-sur-Mer" الدولي في فرنسا.
1983 حلّ ضيفاً على اتحاد الفنون الجميلة في دمشق - سوريا حيث عرض أعمال في قاعة الشعوب.
شارك في الجولة الفنية في المملكة المتحدة: معرض بروناي، لندن؛ جامعة إكستر.
2000 شارك في معرض "Hotbath" في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية: كلية غرينيل في ولاية أيوا.
شارك في الكثير من المعارض الفنية التشكيلية بالعراق وفي الخارج، وآخر معرض مشترك له كان بمدينة لندن قبل عدة سنوات من وفاته.
قبل عشر سنوات من وفاته كفّ عن الرسم واعتزل الحياة الواقعية الفعلية، بعد أن أصيب بمرض الكآبة والشعور الدائم بالوحدة.
22 ديسمبر 2016 تُوفي الفنان في شقته في أحد ضواحي لندن عن عمر يناهز الواحد وثمانين عاماً تاركاً خلفه أعمالاً إبداعية مميزة موزعة في بعض المتاحف الوطنية والمجموعات الفنية ومنها المجموعة الوطنية للفن الحديث في بغداد.
