1961 - 1971 Completed his elementary and middle school studies in Baghdad.
1971 - 1975 Studied and graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad and obtained a diploma in Graphic Art and Arabic Calligraphy.
1972 During his studies at the institute, he began his work as a designer, calligrapher, and painter in the media and journalistic field. He continued working in this field for twenty years. He participated in editing, issuing, and designing many newspapers and magazines in Iraq during his career.

1989 - 1990 Continued his academic research and work in the field of print design, and participated in the exhibition of contemporary Iraqi art, Beirut, the exhibition ‘Iraqis’ at Kodia Hall, Berlin, and the Conference of Fine Arts, Baghdad. He also took a course in color printing in Dusseldorf, Germany.
1993 Participated in an exhibition entitled ‘Art for Humanity’, Baghdad.
1994 Worked on interior design for RMC Company in Baghdad, and participated in the Iraqi Art Gallery, London.
1995 - 2005 Taught graphics and printing at the College of Fine Arts in Baghdad.
1996 Established the ‘Igal Printing and Design’ printing press.
1998 Established a graphic studio and a computer center at the College of Fine Arts in Baghdad, and participated in an exhibition entitled ‘Nature’ at Hiwar gallery, Baghdad.
1999 Worked on the interior design of the FMC Company wing in Al-Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad.
2000 Earned a Ph.D. in philosophy, and his doctoral thesis was on ‘Semiotic Analysis of Painting Art: Principles and Applications’. He held an exhibition of graphics with his students, Baghdad, and participated in the exhibition of professors of the College of Art, Baghdad.
2001 Held an art exhibition for graphics with his students, Baghdad, and participated in the first exhibition of drawings at Ufuq Hall, Baghdad.
2002 Participated in the Contemporary Art Speech Exhibition, New Delhi, India, and participated in the Scientific Conference of the University of Mosul. He received a training course in teaching methods at the University of Baghdad in Baghdad.
2003 Participated in the Conference on Printing Design and Packaging, India.
2004 Established a ‘Visual Arts’ studio with other artists and participated in an exhibition at the Rabat Hall, Baghdad. He also wrote a book entitled ‘Studies in the Structure of Art’, published by Al-Raed Al-Alamiya House, Amman. He also participated in the Philadelphia University conference, Amman.
2005 Participated in the Art Professors' Exhibition, Baghdad and the ‘Meetings’ Exhibition, Bahrain. He also wrote a book entitled ‘Criticism and Art’, which was published by Igal, Baghdad.
2006 Participated in an exhibition at the Broadway Gallery, Amman, the Iraqi Art exhibition, New York, the ‘Dialogue of Civilizations’ conference, Italy, and the Al-Mustansiriya University Conference, Baghdad. He also wrote a book entitled ‘Studies in Art and Beauty’ which was published by Majdalawi House, Amman.
2007 Wrote two books entitled ‘Interpretation of Space in the Islamic Arts’ and ‘Limits of Ceramics: A Study in the Works of Sa’ad Shaker’.
2008 Participated in the exhibition ‘Immigration into Reality’, Amman, and the exhibition ‘Iraqi Artists: Mesopotamia’, Abu Dhabi, UAE. He also wrote two books entitled ‘Fine Art: A Semiotic Reading in the Format of Painting’, published by Majdalawi House, Amman, and ‘History of Graphic Design’, published by the Arab Society Library, Amman.
2010 Held a solo exhibition entitled ‘The Abandoned Fragrance’, Amman, and participated in the Iraqi Art Exhibition with the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Beirut.
2011 Participated in the ‘Art Today’ exhibition, Montreal, Canada.
2013 Participated in the exhibition ‘Iraqi Spaces: Joint Annual Fine Arts Exhibition’ at the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, and the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition ‘We Color Baghdad with Love and Peace’ at the Baghdad Forum for Fine Arts in the Department of Fine Arts, Baghdad.
2014 Participated in the Fine Art Festival in the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Communist Party at the Hiwar Art Gallery, Baghdad.
2015 Participated in the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association.
2016 Participated in the exhibition ‘Iraqi Painters’ of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association and the Lebanese Association of Painting and Sculpture, Beirut.
2017 Participated in the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad.
2018 Participated in the 12th Wasiti Festival for Fine Art, Baghdad, the exhibition ‘The Art of Words: Arab Women’, Istanbul, and the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad.
2019 Participated in the exhibition ‘Contemporary Artists from Iraq’ at Ras Al-Ain Gallery, Amman, the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad.
He taught at the Institute of Fine Arts, Baghdad, the Academy of Fine Arts, Baghdad, the College of Jerusalem, Amman, Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and Yarmouk University, Amman.
He won several awards during his career, including; The first prize for poster from UNESCO in New York, first prize for poster from the Iraqi Artists Association in Baghdad, the gold award for print design from the Ministry of Information for Alf Ba Magazine in Baghdad, the award for best journalist director and the award of appreciation from the Iraqi Women’s Union.
He was married and had three children.
2021 He passed away from a heart attack on 9th April, Baghdad.

1954 وُلد الفنان بلاسم محمد جسام في مدينة الكوفة في الفرات الأوسط من العراق.
1961 - 1971 أكمل دراسته المدرسية للابتدائية والمتوسطة في بغداد.
1971 - 1975 درس وتخرج من معهد الفنون الجميلة في بغداد وحصل على دبلوم في فن الكرافيك والخط العربي.
1972 أثناء دراسته في المعهد بدأ عمله كمصمم وخطاط ورسام الحقل الإعلامي والصحفي لمدة عشرون عاماً وشارك في إصدار وتصميم العديد من الصحف والمجلات خلال مسيرته.
1973 اشترك في معرض طلبة معهد الفنون الجميلة في بغداد.
1976 – 1979 درس وتخرج من كلية الفنون الجميلة – جامعة بغداد وحاز على بكالوريوس في فن الكرافيك.

1989 - 1990 أستمر في بحثه الأكاديمي والعمل في مجال التصميم الطباعي، واشترك في معرض الفن العراقي المعاصر في بيروت ومعرض "عراقيون" على قاعة كوديا في برلين ومؤتمر الفنون التشكيلية في بغداد. وأخذ دورة في الطباعة الملونة في دوسلدورف في المانيا.
1993 اشترك في معرض بعنوان "الفن للإنسانية" في بغداد.
1994 عمل على التصميم الداخلي لشركة RMC في بغداد واشترك في معرض الفن العراقي في لندن.

2006 اشترك في معرض على قاعة برودوي في عمان ومعرض الفن العراقي في نيويورك ومؤتمر "حوار الحضارات" في إيطاليا ومؤتمر الجامعة المستنصرية في بغداد. ألف كتاب بعنوان "دراسات في الفن و الجمال" وتم نشره من قبل دار مجدلاوي في عمان.
2007 ألف كتابين بعنوان "تأويل الفراغ في الفنون الإسلامية" و"حدود الخزف – دراسة في أعمال سعد شاكر".
2008 اشترك في معرض "الهجرة الى الواقع" في عمان ومعرض "الفنانين العراقين - وادي الرافدين" في ابو ظبي في الامارات. ألف كتابين بعنوان "الفن التشكيلي – قراءة سيميائية في انساق الرسم" وتم نشره من قبل دار مجدلاوي في عمان و"تاريخ التصميم الكرافيكي" وتم نشره من قبل مكتبة المجتمع العربي في عمان.
2010 اقام معرض شخصي بعنوان "العبق المهجور" في عمان واشترك في معرض الفن العراقي مع جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين في العراق في بيروت.
2011 اشترك في معرض الفن اليوم في مونتريال في كندا.
2013 اشترك في معرض "فضاءات عراقية - المعرض التشكيلي السنوي المشترك" في جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين ومعرض الفن العراقي المعاصر "نلون بغداد محبة وسلاما" في ملتقى بغداد للفنون التشكيليةفي دائرة الفنون التشكيلية في بغداد.
2014 اشترك في مهرجان الفن التشكيلي في ذكرى 80 عام لتأسيس الحزب الشيوعي العراقي على قاعة حوار للفنون في بغداد.
2015 اشترك في المعرض السنوي لجمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين.
2016 اشترك في معرض "رسامون عراقيون" لجمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين وجمعية الفنانين اللبنانيين للرسم والنحت في بيروت.

درّس في كل من معهد الفنون الجميلة في بغداد و اكاديمية الفنون الجميلة في بغداد و كلية القدس في عمان وجامعة عمان الاهلية وجامعة اليرموك في عمان.
حاز على عدة جوائز خلال مسيرته الفنية منها؛ جائزة الأولى للبوستر من اليونسكو في نيويورك و الجائزة الأولى للبوستر من جمعية التشكيلين العراقيين في بغداد والجائزة الذهبية للتصميم الطباعي من وزارة الإعلام عن مجلة ألف باء في بغداد وجائزة أفضل مخرج صحفي و الجائزة التقديرية من اتحاد نساء العراق.
متزوج ولديه ثلاثة أولاد.
09 ابريل 2021 تُوفي الفنان اثر سكتة قلبية مفاجئة عن عمر يناهز السبعة وستين في بغداد ووري جثمانه الثرى في مقبرة وادي السلام في مدينة النجف.
