Her full name (Bahija Nuri Mahdi al-Hakim) she was born in 1937 in Karbala Governorate, Iraq
She is the mother of three children, Hussain Al Tajer (journalist), Ali Al Tajer (a well-known plastic artist), and Ward Al Tajer (also a plastic artist).
She lived in a large family, dominated by an atmosphere of love and family warmth which settled in her memory, to be reflected later in this warm and elegant atmosphere on her paintings.
She completed her studies at Al-Adhamiya High School in (1952).
She graduated from Queen Alia College / Art section in 1957
She taught art in a number of Karbala schools, including the House of teachers and home arts, Al-Wehda High School, the Teachers Institute in Baghdad Al-Karkh, and Al-Khansa High School in Basra, she was appointed as an educational supervisor from (1957 to 1981).
She was appointed the director of the Museum of Pioneer Artists - Baghdad from 1982 to 1994.
Member of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate and the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association.
A member of the Baghdad Group for Modern Art.
She held administrative positions in many important art halls, such as Al-Rasheed Hall. Her works occupied the halls of the Baghdad Art Center, a number of government departments and presidential palaces.
She has many personal exhibitions inside and outside Iraq, as well as her continuous participation in most of the exhibitions held inside and outside Iraq.
The life of the plastic artist, Bahija Al-Hakim, ended after a struggle with illness on 11/11/2008 in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan - Amman

اسمها الكامل (بهيجة نوري مهدي الحكيم) من مواليد 1937 ولدت في محافظة كربلاء ببغداد
هي ام لثلاثة اولاد ، حسين آل تاجر (اعلامي)، و علي آل تاجر(فنان تشكيلي معروف) ، و ورود آل تاجر (فنانة تشكيلية ايضا)
عاشت في اسرة كبيرة يسودها جو من المحبة والدفئ العائلي استقرت في ذاكرتها لتنعكس هذه الأجواء الدافئة الراقية على لوحاتها فيما بعد .
اكملت دراستها في ثانوية الاعظمية عام (1952)
وتخرجت من كلية الملكة عالية / فرع الفن عام 1957
قامت بتدريس الفن في عدد من مدارس كربلاء ومنها دار المعلمات والفنون البيتية وثانوية الوحدة و معهد المعلمات في بغداد الكرخ وفي ثانوية الخنساء في البصرة وتم تعيينها كمشرفة تربوية وذلك من عام (1957 الى عام 1981 ).
واصبحت مديرة لمتحف الفنانين الرواد – بغداد منذ عام (1982 الى عام 1994) .
عضوة في نقابة الفنانين العراقيين وفي جمعية التشكيليين العراقيين.
احد اعضاء جماعة بغداد للفن الحديث ،
شغلت مناصب ادارية في الكثير من القاعات الفنية المهمه مثل قاعة الرشيد. شغلت اعمالها قاعات مركز بغداد للفنون ، وعدد من الدوائر الحكومية والقصور الرئاسية.
لها العديد من المعارض الشخصية داخل وخارج العراق فضلا عن مشاركاتها المتواصلة في اغلب المعارض التي اقيمت في داخل وخارج العراق..
انتهت حياة الفنانة التشكيلية بهيجة الحكيم بعد صراع لها مع المرض في 11/11/ 2008 في المملكة الاردنية الهاشمية -عمان
