1937 Artist Saadi Al-Kaabi was born in the Najaf province, in Iraq.
1943 - 1955 He completed his primary and high school in Najaf.
1955 - 1959 He studied in the Institute of Fine Arts Baghdad; his professors were Jewad Selim, Faik Hasan, and other pioneer artists in Iraq.
1960 - 1966 He taught art in some high schools in Iraq.
1964 He held a solo exhibition at Al-Wasiti Hall on Al-Saadoun Street, which was managed by the architects Saeed Ali Mazloum and Henry Zebboda.
March 28, 1968, He held a solo exhibition at the Gulbenkian Hall in the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
1966 - 1970 He held a solo exhibition in Beirut, and some articles about the exhibition were published in Al-Hayat and Al-Safir newspapers. In the same year, He was delegated to Teach fine arts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he resided first at Tabuk. He was told his memories about those days, saying, “the Mayor and many people of Tabuk welcome me for my mission and as well for a tribal reason as so many of those people were from the same tribe of me “Bani Kaab”, they prepared for me a free studio to work in, and I taught art there for a while, then transferred to became a director of the Department of Painting - Fine Arts at the Institute of Art Education in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia”. He held three solo exhibitions during his residency in Saudi Arabia; his first art exhibition was in an old house built in the clay of the Saudi Style in Riyadh and was inaugurated by the Minister of Education, and the second exhibition was held in the Municipal Hall for celebrations, and the third was held in the Al Yamamah Hotel.
1972 He participated in the Iraqi Contemporary Art Exhibition at the Gulbenkian Hall in the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
1974 He participated in the cultural festival of Al-Thawra (Revolution) newspaper in Baghdad.
1976 He participated in the Iraqi booth in the International Biennale of Venice in Italy.
1980 He participated in the ‘Cagnes-sur-Mer’ International Festival in France and won a prize from the festival.
1981 He participated in the Kuwait Arab Biennale in Kuwait and won the Golden Prize.
1981 - 1985 He became director of theatrical production at the Film and Theater Institution, designed many theatrical decorations, and was appointed an art director and a decorative designer.
1982 He participated in the 5th International India Triennale in New Delhi, India, and won the first prize. He also participated in the second Al-Wasiti Festival in Baghdad.
1985 - 1987 He founded and headed the Iraqi Visual Art Club.

2010 The artist was honored in the joint exhibition of some Arab artists at the Autumn Salon in Paris to celebrate their artistic career, as his works were given ten meters of space in which seven works were exhibited that represent the development of his experience, and he was honored for his achievements in his artistic career.
2019 After more than fifty years, the Saudi Ministry of Culture held an exhibition of artists entitled "After a while" in Riyadh, which included various works, especially for the period of his stay in Saudi Arabia, and he reunited with some of his students such as artists Ali Al-Ruzaiza, Bakr Sheikhoun, Fouad Mogharbel, Muhammad Resayes who became the pioneers of the Saudi artistic movement.
He resided in California, USA but continued his art activity, practicing art and holding many exhibitions in Jordan, Egypt, and other cities all over Arabic countries.

1937 ولد الفنان سعدي الكعبي في محافظة النجف في العراق.
-1955 أكمل دراسته الابتدائية والمتوسطة والثانوية في النجف.
1955-1959 أكمل دراسته في معهد الفنون الجميلة-بغداد وتتلمذ على يد جواد سليم، فائق حسن والرواد الأوائل.
1960 – 1966 درّس الفن في المدارس الثانوية في العراق.
اقام معرضه الشخصي الأول على قاعة متحف الفنّ الحديث في بغداد (قاعة كولبنكيان) في 28.آذار.1968
1966 – 1970 اقام معرض شخصي في بيروت وتم نشر مقالات عنه في جريدة الحياة والسفير، ثم أُوفد ضمن برنامج للتدريس في مدارس المملكة العربية السعودية وأستقر في مدينة تبوك، يقول الكعبي أنهم "رحبوا به كثيراً حيث كان رئيس البلدية والأكثرية من أهل تبوك من بني كعب وأعطوا الفنان استوديو حر ليعمل فيه ودرّس الفن"، ثم أنتقل الى العاصمة الرياض، وأصبح مديراً لقسم الرسم - الفنون التشكيلية في معهد التربية الفنية في الرياض في السعودية. أقام ثلاثة معارض شخصية في فترة مكوثه في السعودية فكان أول معرض فني له في بيت تراثي من الطين في الرياض وافتتحه وزير المعارف، وثاني معرض في قاعة البلدية للاحتفالات وثالث معرض أقيم ٍفي فندق اليمامة.
28 مارس 1968 اقام معرضه الشخصي الأول على قاعة كولبنكيان في المتحف الوطني لفنّ الحديث في بغداد.
1972 اشترك في معرض الفن العراقي المعاصر في قاعة المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.
1974 اشترك في المهرجان الثقافي لجريدة الثورة في بغداد.
1976 شارك في الجناح العراقي في بينالي فينيسيا العالمي في ايطاليا.

1982 شارك في ترينالي الهند العالمي في نيودلهي في الهند وحاز على الجائزة الأولى ومهرجان الواسطي الثاني في بغداد.

1988 عضو اللجنة التحضيرية لمهرجان بغداد العالمي الثاني للفن المعاصر وكان من ضمن وفد الى جانب الفنانة الراحلة ليلى العطار، سافر لعدة بلدان في آسيا مثل اليابان والصين لدعوة فنانين من هذه الدول للمشاركة في المهرجان. وشارك بأعماله في هذا المهرجان.

2019 بعد أكثر من خمسون عام، أقامت وزارة الثقافة السعودية معرض للفنان بعنوان "بعد حين" في الرياض والذي ضمّ أعمال مختلفة وخاصة لفترة مكوثه في السعودية وفيه ألتقى ببعض من تلاميذه مثل الفنانين علي الرزيز، بكر شيخون، فؤاد مغربل، محمد الرصيص و الذين اصبحوا من رواد الحركة التشكيلية في السعودية.
