1950 - 1960 Completed his primary, middle, and secondary school studies in Basra.
1963 - 1967 Studied and graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad.
1968 Participated in the graduates’ exhibition of the evening section of the Institute of Fine Arts, Baghdad.
1969 Along with other artists, he founded the ‘Al-Bidaya Group’.
1971 Participated in the second Arab Biennial, Kuwait, and the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition in cooperation with the Iraqi Artists Association, Kuwait.
1972 Participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad.
1973 Participated in the fifteenth exhibition of the Fine Artists Association, Baghdad, and the second exhibition of the One Dimension Group, Baghdad.
1974 Participated in the cultural festival of Al-Thawra newspaper and the first Arab Biennial exhibition, Baghdad.
1976 Participated in the third April Exhibition at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad.
1977 Held his first solo exhibition, Baghdad, and participated in the exhibition of contemporary Iraqi art in Tunisia, France, Russia, London, Berlin, and the fourth April Exhibition at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad. He also obtained a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Education.
1978 Participated in the fifth April Exhibition at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad.
1980 Participated in the seventh April Exhibition at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad.
1987 Awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Iraqi Artists Association.
1997 Held his second solo exhibition, Baghdad.
1999 Awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Red Cross.
2001 Participated in an exhibition with two artists at Faiza Al-Haidari Hall and an exhibition with three artists at Al-Riwaq Hall, Baghdad. He was also awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Iraqi Fine Artists Association.
2002 Participated in an exhibition with three artists entitled ‘Heritage Rhythms’ at Al-Riwaq Hall, Baghdad. He was also awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Department of Fine Arts in Baghdad.
2004 Participated in the exhibition ‘Peace to Baghdad’ at Al-Riwaq Hall, Baghdad, and the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition, Dubai, UAE.
2006 Awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Women for the World's Women association.
2008 Participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition, Dubai, and the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition at Bayariq Hall.
2009 Participated in the Creators exhibitions in the Department of Fine Arts, Baghdad.
2010 Held his third solo exhibition at Akkad Gallery, Baghdad.
2011 Held his fourth solo exhibition at Hiwar Hall, Baghdad.
2012 Participated in the exhibition of the Iraqi Artists Association, Baghdad, and the retrospective festival of contemporary Iraqi fine art on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Communist Party at Akkad Hall of Art, Baghdad.
2013 Participated in the exhibition ‘Iraqi Spaces - Joint Annual Fine Exhibition’ at the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad, the first Arab Fine Art Festival at the Ishtar Hall in the National Library, Amman, Jordan, and the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition at the Baghdad Forum for Fine Arts, and ‘We Color Baghdad with Love and Peace’ in the Department of Fine Arts, Baghdad.
2014 Participated in the Fine Art Festival on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Communist Party at the Hiwar Art Gallery, and the ‘Baghdad in the Eyes of Its Creators’ exhibition at the halls of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad.
2015 Participated in the exhibition of the Iraqi Artists Association, Baghdad.
2016 Participated in the exhibition of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad, the exhibition ‘Iraqi Painters of Iraqi Fine Artists Association and the Association of Lebanese Artists for Painting and Sculpture’, Beirut, and the Iraqi Art exhibition, Paris.
2017 Held his fifth solo exhibition entitled ‘Horizon Whispers’ at Rua’a 32 Gallery, Amman, in which he exhibited 31 works of art, and participated in the exhibition ‘Selections from Contemporary Iraqi Art’ at the Union of Tunisian Fine Artists, Tunisia, the Seventh Beijing Biennial, China, and the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad.
2018 Held his sixth solo exhibition entitled ‘Endless Illuminations’ in Amman, and participated in the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad.
2019 Participated in the Caesar International Fine Arts Exhibition entitled ‘Tolerance, Brotherhood, and Unity’ at the Royal Cultural Center, Amman, the exhibition ‘Contemporary Artists from Iraq’ at Ras Al-Ain Gallery, Amman, and the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad.
He lives and works full-time in art in Baghdad.

1944 وُلد الفنان ستار لقمان في مدينة البصرة جنوب العراق.
1950 - 1960 أكمل دراسته المدرسية للابتدائية والمتوسطة والثانوية في البصرة.
1963 – 1967 درس وتخرج من معهد الفنون الجميلة في بغداد.
1968 اشترك في معرض خريجي الدراسات في القسم المسائي في معهد الفنون الجميلة في بغداد.
1969 أسس مع فنانين اخرين "جماعة البداية".
1971 اشترك في السنتين العربي الثاني في الكويت ومعرض الفن العراقي المعاصر بالتعاون مع جمعية الفنانين العراقيين في الكويت.
1972 اشترك في معرض الفن العراقي المعاصر على قاعة المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.
1973 اشترك في معرض جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين الخامس عشر على قاعة جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين في بغداد والمعرض الثاني لجماعة البعد الواحد في بغداد.

2011 اقام معرضه الشخصي الرابع على قاعة حوار في بغداد.
2012 اشترك في معرض جمعية التشكيلين العراقيين في بغداد والمهرجان الشامل للفن التشكيلي العراقي المعاصر لمناسبة الذكرى 78 لتأسيس الحزب الشيوعي العراقي على قاعة اكد للفنون في بغداد.
2013 اشترك في معرض "فضاءات عراقية - المعرض التشكيلي السنوي المشترك" في جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين في بغداد ومهرجان الفن التشكيلي العربي الاول على قاعة عشتار في المكتبة الوطنية في عمان ومعرض الفن العراقي المعاصر في ملتقى بغداد للفنون التشكيلية "نلون بغداد محبة وسلاما" في دائرة الفنون التشكيلية في بغداد.

2017 اقام معرضه الشخصي الخامس بعنوان "همسات الأفق" في كاليري رؤى 32 في عمان في الاردن وعرض فيه 31 عمل فني واشترك في معرض "مختارات من الفن العراقي المعاصر" في اتحاد الفنانين التشكيليين التونسيين في تونس وبينالي بكين السابع في الصين والمعرض السنوي لجمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين في بغداد.
2018 اقام معرضه الشخصي السادس بعنوان "اضاءات لا تنتهي" في عمان في الاردن واشترك في المعرض السنوي لجمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين في بغداد.
2019 اشترك في معرض القيصر الدولي للفنون التشكيلية بعنوان "التسامح والتآخي والوحدة" في المركز الثقافي الملكي في عمان ومعرض "تشكيليون معاصرون من العراق" في كاليري رأس العين في عمان والمعرض السنوي لجمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين في بغداد.
