1936 Born in the city of Hilla, in the Babil Province, Iraq.
1942-1953 Completed his elementary, middle, and high school studies.
1954-1959 Studied and graduated with distinction from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad.
1961-1964 Traveled to England and studied at the Chelsea College of Art in London in the Department of Sculpture and Design. He graduated from the college and obtained the National Diploma in Design. Later, he studied the methods of casting bronze at the Central School of Art and Design in London. After completing his studies, he returned to Iraq.
1965 Headed the sculpture and casting department at the Directorate of Antiquities, specializing in the care, preservation, and display of artistic works.
1967 He was sent to Portugal to study monumentality and a course in museum management. This opportunity was made possible through a bilateral agreement between the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Iraqi Museum of Modern Art, and the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
1968 Upon his return to Baghdad, he taught sculpture and headed the Plastic Arts Department.
1970 Traveled to the United States of America, specifically Pennsylvania, to pursue his postgraduate studies in fine arts at the University of Pennsylvania and earned a master's degree.
1973 Participated in the retrospective of an Iraqi art exhibition in the hall of the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
1974 Participated in the cultural festival of Al-Thawra newspaper in Baghdad and the first Arab Biennial exhibition in Baghdad.
1975 Participated in the second art exhibition on the occasion of the anniversary of the ruling party at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
1976 Participated in the third art exhibition in the occasion of the anniversary of ruling party at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
1977 Participated in the fourth art exhibition on the occasion of the ruling party's anniversary at the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
1980 Participated in the seventh art exhibition on the occasion of the anniversary of the ruling party at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
1986 Participated in the Baghdad International Festival for Plastic Art at the Center of Arts in Baghdad.
He lived in Baghdad all his life and was dedicated to serving the fine arts. He taught at the Institute and Academy of Fine Arts. He participated in all exhibitions held by the Iraqi Fine Artists Association and the General Fine Arts Department at the Ministry of Information. Later, he traveled to Great Britain and resided there until his passing.
2003 Donated over seventy sculptural pieces made of marble, stone, and bronze to the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Babylon before his death. These pieces, some of which were over a meter tall, were created over four decades in the last century. Among his possessions were works by artists such as Jewad Selim, Ala Bashir, and Mohammad Ali Shakir. The purpose of the donation was to establish a museum of modern art.
June 5, 2017 Passed away at the age of eighty-one in a London hospital.
2018 A hall named after the artist and sculptor Abdul Raheem Al-Wakeel was inaugurated at the Fine Arts Department of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Babylon. The hall showcased his donated works.

1936 وُلد الفنان عبد الرحيم الوكيل في مدينة الحلة في محافظة بابل في العراق.
1942 – 1953 أكمل دراسته الابتدائية والمتوسطة والثانوية.
1954 – 1959 درس وتخرّج بدرجة امتياز من معهد الفنون الجميلة في بغداد.
1961-1964 سافر الى انكلترا ودرس في كلية تشيلسي للفنون في لندن في قسم النحت والتصميم وتخرج منها وحصل على الدبلوم الوطني في التصميم، ثم درس في المدرسة المركزية للفنون الجميلة في لندن طُرق صب البرونز وعاد بعدها الى العراق.
1965 ترأس قسم النحت والصب في مديرية الآثار المتخصص في الاهتمام بالاعمال الفنية وصيانتها وعرضها.
1967 تم ايفاده الى البرتغال لدراسة فن النُصب ودورة في إدارة المتاحف، وحسب اتفاقية ثنائية بين وزارة الثقافة والاعلام بالتعاون مع المتحف العراقي للفن الحديث ومؤسسة كولبنكيان في لشبونة.
1968 عند رجوعه الى بغداد، درّس فن النحت وترأس قسم الفنون التشكيلية.
1970 سافر الى الولايات المتحدة الامريكية - بنسلفانيا لإكمال دراسته العليا في الفنون الجميلة في جامعة بنسلفانيا وحصل على شهادة الماجستير الامريكية.
1973 اشترك في معرض الفن العراقي الشامل في قاعة المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.
1974 اشترك في المهرجان الثقافي لجريدة الثورة في بغداد ومعرض السنتين العربي الاول في بغداد.
1975 اشترك في معرض نيسان الثاني في المتحف العراقي للفن الحديث في بغداد.
1976 اشترك في معرض نيسان الثالث في المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.
1977 اشترك في معرض نيسان الرابع في المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.
1980 اشترك في معرض نيسان السابع في المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.
1986 اشترك في مهرجان بغداد العالمي للفن التشكيلي على مركز صدام للفنون في بغداد.
عاش معظم حياته في بغداد ونذرها لخدمة الفن التشكيلي والتدريس في معهد وأكاديمية الفنون الجميلة واشترك في جميع المعارض التي أقامتها جمعية الفنانين التشكيلين ودائرة الفنون التشكيلية العامة في وزارة الاعلام وبعدها سافر الى بريطانيا وسكن فيها حتى وفاته.
2003 تبرع الفنان لكلية الفنون الجميلة-جامعة بابل، لغرض عمل متحف للفن الحديث قبل وفاته بأكثر من سبعين قطعة نحتية منفذة بالرخام، الحجر، والبرونز، وكان بعضها بارتفاع كبير يزيد عن المتر أحيانا، ويغطي تاريخ تنفيذها مرحلة تمتد نحو اربعة عقود من القرن الماضي من مقتنياته الشخصية تضمنت أعمال لجواد سليم وعلاء بشير ومحمد علي شاكر وفنانين اخرين.
5 يونيو2017 توفى الفنان عن عمر يناهز الواحدة وثمانون عاماً في احدى مستشفيات لندن.
2018 افتتحت قاعة "الفنان النحات عبد الرحيم الوكيل" في قسم الفنون التشكيلية في كلية الفنون الجميلة في جامعة بابل والتي ضمّت أعماله التي تبرع بها.
