Ibrahimi Collection is participating in the exhibition titled “All Manner of Experiments: Legacies of the Baghdad Modern Art Group,” currently on display at the Hessel Museum of Art at Bard College in New York. The exhibition opened on June 21 and will run until October 19 of this year.
This exhibition highlights the history and influence of the Baghdad Modern Art Group, focusing on its development and the relationships among founders like Jewad Selim and Shakir Hassan Al-Said, along with their students. Curated by Dr. Nada Shabout, Tiffany Floyd, and Lauren Cornell, the exhibition includes loaned artworks by members of the group, such as Shakir Hassan Al-Said and Mohammad Ghani Hikmat, as well as works by artists inspired by the Baghdad Group’s vision, like Dia al-Azzawi and Hanaa Malallah.
Other works have been borrowed from various collections, including the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha, the Barjeel Art Foundation in Sharjah, and the Dalloul Art Foundation in Beirut.
