1938 Born in the city of Mahmoudiyah, Baghdad, Iraq.
He completed his primary and middle studies in Mahmoudiyah and then enrolled at the Higher Teachers' College in Baghdad, graduating as an English teacher.
Early 1950s Graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad and joined the Iraqi Communist Party, and faced political persecution.
He was arrested several times by the authorities due to his artistic activities opposing the dictatorship.
He obtained a BA in English Literature from the University of Baghdad.
He obtained a postgraduate diploma in English Literature from Al-Mustansiriya University, Baghdad.

He worked as a fine arts teacher in Iraqi schools for 28 years, then retired and devoted himself to his artistic work.
2006 Assigned to work as a supervisor and art expert at the Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum in Qatar. He designed the museum's enormous doors by incorporating calligraphy, sculpture, and various other artistic elements.
He is considered one of the artists of the 60s generation who established a distinct style. He worked in sculpture, painting, and calligraphy, in addition to writing poetry and novels.
2012 Published one of his most famous novels, ‘Perfume and Clay’, in Baghdad.
2016 Passed away at the age of seventy-eight in Baghdad.
He had a novel titled ‘Insistence’, which his eldest son is working on publishing.

1938 ولد الفنان في مدينة المحمودية في بغداد، العراق.
أكمل دراسته الابتدائية والمتوسطة في المحمودية ثم التحق بدار المعلمين العالي في بغداد ليتخرج منها معلماً للغة الإنكَليزية.
تخرج من معهد الفنون الجميلة في بغداد وانتمى إلى الحزب الشيوعي العراقي منذ أوائل الخمسينات وتعرض للاضطهاد السياسي.
اعتُقل لأكثر من مرة من قِبل السلطات بسبب أنشطته الفنية المعارضة للدكتاتورية.
حصل على بكالوريوس أدب إنكَليزي من جامعة بغداد.
لديه دبلوم عالي في الأدب الإنكَليزي من الجامعة المستنصرية.
1970 أقام معرضه الشخصي في اليمن.
1996 أقام معرضه الشخصي في بغداد - قاعة البغدادي.
2005 أقام معرضه الشخصي في الإمارات قاعة توتال آرتس في كورت يارد.
عمل في تدريس الفنون التشكيلية في المدارس العراقية لمدة (28) عاماً ثم تقاعد وتفرغ لأعماله الفنية.
2006 انتُدب للعمل كمشرف وخبير فني في متحف الشيخ فيصل بن قاسم آل ثاني بدولة قطر وأنجز نحت أبواب المتحف العملاقة من خط ونحت وأعمال أُخرى.
يُعتبر أحد فناني جيل الستينات الذين اختطوا لأنفسهم أسلوباً خاصاً بهم. اشتغل بالنحت والرسم والخط بالإضافة إلى كتابته الشعر والرواية.
2012 من أشهر رواياته (عطر وطين) التي أصدرها في بغداد.
لديه رواية بعنوان (إصرار) يقوم ابنهُ البكر بمتابعة نشرها.
2016 تُوفي الفنان في بغداد عن عمر يناهز الثامنة والسبعين عاماً.
