1939 Born in the Abu Al Khasib area in Basra, southern Iraq.
During his childhood, he lived in the Al-Ashar District, at Basra’s city center; his artistic talent began to appear at an early age.
1960 Graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad.
He worked as a drawing teacher in several schools and institutes in Basra Governorate. Also, he worked as an official in the design department at the Film and Theater Foundation in Baghdad.
1963 Held his 1st solo exhibition, Basra.
1966 Held his 2nd solo exhibition at Al-Wasiti Gallery, Baghdad.
1969 Participated in the Basra Modern Art Group exhibition at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad.
1970 Participated in the Shadow Group exhibition at the Artists Association Hall, Basra.
1971 Participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition, in cooperation with the Iraqi Artists Association, Kuwait, and the Arab Fine Artists Exhibition, Baghdad.
1973 Participated in the 15th exhibition of the Fine Artists Association in the hall of the Fine Artists Association, Baghdad, the 1st Arab Biennial, Baghdad, and the retrospective exhibition of Iraqi art in the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad.
1974 Participated in the Cultural Festival of Al-Thawra Newspaper, Baghdad.
1975 Participated in an exhibition with Shaker Hamad, Ala Bashir, and Mohammad Radi at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad, and the Gallery of Arab Artists, Baghdad.
1978 Held a solo exhibition at the Free Studio Gallery, Kuwait.
1979 Held a solo exhibition at the Hall of the Cultural Center, Basra, and the 2nd Arab Biennial, Morocco.
1980 Held a solo exhibition at Al-Riwaq Hall, Baghdad, and participated in the 7th April Exhibition at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad.
1991 Participated in the Wasiti Festival, Baghdad.
He holds a PhD in Fine Arts, specializing in the concept of quality and the formation of artistic paintings. He has authored several books and taught in fine arts institutes and colleges in Iraq, including a book on anatomy.
2016 Participated in the exhibition ‘Iraqi Painters’ in cooperation between the Iraqi Fine Artists Association and the Lebanese Association of Painting and Sculpture, Beirut.
He currently lives with his family in the Netherlands.
Member of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association.
Member of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate.

- 1939 وُلد الفنان سلمان البصري في منطقة أبي الخصيب في مدينة البصرة، العراق.

- 1973 اشترك في معرض جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين الخامس عشر على قاعة جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين في بغداد، والبينالي العربي الأول في بغداد، ومعرض الفن العراقي الشامل على قاعة المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.

- 1974 اشترك في المهرجان الثقافي لجريدة الثورة ومعرض السنتين العربي الأول في بغداد.

- 1975 اشترك في معرض مع شاكر حمد، علاء بشير ومحمد راضي في المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث ومعرض الفنانين العرب في بغداد.

- 1978 أقام معرضاً شخصياً على صالة المرسم الحر في الكويت.

- 1979 أقام معرضاً شخصياً على قاعة المركز الثقافي في البصرة، واشترك في البينالي العربي الثاني في المغرب.

- 1980 أقام معرضاً شخصياً على قاعة الرواق في بغداد، واشترك في معرض نيسان السابع على قاعة المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.

- 1991 اشترك في مهرجان الواسطي في بغداد.

- حصل على شهادة الدكتوراه في الفن التشكيلي في مفهوم الجودة وتشكيل اللوحة الفنية وألّف عدة كتب تُدرّس في معاهد وكليات الفنون الجميلة في العراق منها كتاب عن التشريح.

- 2016 اشترك في معرض "رسامون عراقيون" بالتعاون بين جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين وجمعية الفنانين اللبنانيين للرسم والنحت في بيروت.

- يسكن الفنان مع عائلته في هولندا.

- عضو في جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين.
