1943 Born in the village of Hamdan in the Abu-AlKhasib district, Basra, Iraq.
1950 - 1958 Completed his primary school studies at Hamdan Primary School and middle school studies in Abu-AlKhasib Middle School.
1959 - 1963 Studied and graduated from the Teachers Primary School in Basra.
1963 - 1974 Appointed as a teacher for the primary and middle school stages in the Iraqi Ministry of Education.
1963 - 1968 Studied and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad and obtained a BA in Fine Arts.
1964 Held his first solo exhibition in the local administration, Basra.
1969 Headed the artistic activity department in the Al-Karkh Education Department in Baghdad.
1974 - 1975 Assigned to the Regional Center for Cultural Property Preservation at the Ministry of Culture and Information in Baghdad.
1974 Obtained a diploma in ‘Preservation of Cultural Property (UNESCO)’ from the Regional Center for the Preservation of Arab Countries in Baghdad.
1975 Obtained ‘The International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM)’ Certificate in Italy.
1977 Participated in the Fourth April Exhibition at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad.
1979 - 2012 Worked as an assistant teacher, then a teacher, then an assistant professor, professor, first professor, and then an experienced professor at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad.
1979 Obtained a Master’s degree in Art History from the University of Baroda, India.
1985 Obtained a master's degree in ‘Archeology’ from Indiana University, USA.
1986 Obtained a master's degree in ‘Art Education’ from Indiana University and a PhD in ‘Archeology’ from Indiana University, USA.
1992 - 1993 Headed the design department at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad.
2003 - 2005 Appointed Assistant Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad.
2009 – 2010 Appointed as a consultant and visiting professor at the Dijlah University College in Baghdad and Erbil.
2016 Wrote several art books during his career, including ‘An Encyclopedia of Buddhist Religion and Mythology’, which was published by Dar Al-Shorouk in Amman, Jordan.
2021 Wrote the ‘Encyclopedia of Fine Arts’, which was published by the House of Arts for Printing and Publishing in Basra.
Held and participated in many art exhibitions inside and outside Iraq.
He lives in Baghdad and works as the head of the media department at Dijla University College.
Member of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association.
Member of the Union of Arab Historians.
Member of the Iraqi Archaeologists and Historians Association.
Member of the World Council of Antiquities.

1943 وُلد الفنان ناصر عبد الواحد الشاوي في قرية حمدان في قضاء أبي الخصيب في البصرة، العراق.
1950 - 1958 أكمل دراسته المدرسية للابتدائية في مدرسة حمدان الابتدائية والمتوسطة في متوسطة أبي الخصيب.
1959 – 1963 درس وتخرج من دار المعلمين الإبتدائية في البصرة.
1963 – 1974 تم تعيينه مدرِّس لمرحلة الابتدائي والمتوسطة في وزارة التربية العراقية.
1963 – 1968 درس وتخرج من أكاديمية الفنون الجميلة في جامعة بغداد وحاز على شهادة البكالوريوس في الفنون التشكيلية.
1964 أقام أول معرض شخصي له في الإدارة المحلية في البصرة.
1969 ترأس قسم النشاط الفني في دائرة تربية الكرخ في بغداد.
1974 – 1975 تم تعيينه في المركز الإقليمي لصيانة الممتلكات الثقافية في وزارة الثقافة والإعلام في بغداد.
1974 حاز على شهادة الدبلوم في "المحافظة على الممتلكات الثقافية (اليونسكو)" من المركز الإقليمي للحفاظ على الدول العربية في بغداد.
1975 حاز على شهادة المركز الدولي لصيانة الممتلكات الثقافية (ICCROM) في إيطاليا.
1977 اشترك في معرض نيسان الرابع على قاعة المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.
1979 – 2012 عمل كمدرس مساعد وبعدها مدرس ثم أستاذ مساعد، أستاذ، الأستاذ الأول ومن ثم أستاذ متمرس في اكاديمية الفنون الجميلة في جامعة بغداد.
1979 حاز على شهادة الماجستير في "تاريخ الفن" من جامعة بارودا في الهند.
1985 حاز على شهادة الماجستير في "علم الآثار" من جامعة إنديانا في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
1986 حاز على شهادة الماجستير في "التربية الفنية" من جامعة إنديانا وحاز على شهادة الدكتوراه في "علم الآثار" من جامعة إنديانا في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
1992 – 1993 ترأس قسم التصميم في أكاديمية الفنون الجميلة في جامعة بغداد.
2003 – 2005 تم تعيينه مساعد عميد البحث العلمي والدراسات العليا في اكاديمية الفنون الجميلة في جامعة بغداد.
2009 – 2010 تم تعيينه مستشار وأستاذ زائر في كلية دجلة الجامعية في بغداد واربيل.
2016 ألف عدة كتب فنية خلال مسيرته، منها "موسوعة الديانة والأساطير البوذية" ونُشر من قبل دار الشروق في عمّان، الأردن.
2021 ألف وأصدر "موسوعة الفنون التشكيلية" ونُشر من قبل دار الآداب والفنون للطباعة والنشر في البصرة.
اقام واشترك في العديد من المعارض الفنية داخل وخارج العراق.
يسكن في بغداد ويعمل رئيس قسم الإعلام في كلية دجلة الجامعية.
عضو في جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين.
عضو في اتحاد المؤرخين العرب.
عضو في جمعية الآثاريين والمؤرخين العراقيين.
عضو في المجلس العالمي للآثار.
عضو مؤسس للمنظمة الدولية للحفاظ على الموروث الثقافي أوقات النزاعات المسلحة.
