1957 - 1967 Completed his primary, middle, and high school studies in Samarra.
1970 - 1974 Studied and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at Baghdad University. Among his teachers were the artists Ismail Fattah and Saad Shaker, from whom he studied ceramic art.
1974 Participated in the cultural festival of Al-Thawra newspaper, Baghdad.
1980 Participated in the 7th April exhibition at the Iraqi National Museum of Modern Art, Baghdad.
1982 Held a solo exhibition at Al-Riwaq Hall, Baghdad.
1984 Obtained a master's degree in arts from California State University in Los Angeles, California, USA. He also participated in many art exhibitions during his stay in Los Angeles and won several awards, including in the exhibitions of Gallery Santa Monica. He shared studios with the artist and dean of the college, Edward Ford, in which they produced their works, including great joint works. He also held a solo exhibition at California State University, Los Angeles.
1985 Obtained a master's degree in pottery sculpture and glazing in Los Angeles, California, and held a solo exhibition, Los Angeles.
1986 Held a solo exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad and participated in the Baghdad International Festival.
1988 Participated in the Baghdad International Festival, and an exhibition of seven ceramists at Al-Orfali Hall, Baghdad.
1989 Participated in the Sumer exhibition, Baghdad.
1990 Participated in the exhibition ‘Contemporary Iraqi Art’, Cyprus, and the Ankara International Festival, Turkey.
1994 Held a solo exhibition at the Arts Center, Baghdad, and a solo exhibition at Alia Hall, Amman, Jordan.
1995 Participated in the exhibition of 70 × 50 Gallery, Beirut, Lebanon.
1996 Participated in the Friends of Valentinus exhibition.
1998 Held a solo exhibition at Hewar Hall, Baghdad, and a solo exhibition at the Cultural Foundation, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
2000 Held a solo exhibition at the Arts Center, Baghdad, and at Al-Riwaq Hall, Manama, Bahrain. He also participated in the Cairo International Ceramics Festival and won the jury prize, and participated with the artists Qassem Al-Sebti and AbdulKareem Khaleel in an exhibition entitled ‘Color, Clay, Stone’ at Hewar Hall, Baghdad.
2001 Held a solo exhibition at the General Women's Union, Abu Dhabi, the Cultural Foundation, Abu Dhabi, and at the Bisan Hall, Doha, Qatar.
2002 Participated in the Arab Ceramics Exhibition, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
2005 Participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Fine Arts Exhibition, Paris, France.
2013 Participated in the exhibition ‘Iraqi Spaces - Joint Annual Fine Exhibition’ at the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad, and the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition at the Baghdad Forum for Fine Arts, ‘We Color Baghdad with Love and Peace’ in the Department of Fine Arts, Baghdad.
2016 Participated in the exhibition ‘Iraqi Ceramists’ at the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad.
2018 Participated in the ‘Clay Tales’ exhibition, Baghdad.
2019 Participated in the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, Baghdad.
He currently lives in Baghdad and works as a professor of pottery sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad.

17 مارس 1949 وُلد الفنان ماهر لطيف السامرائي في مدينة سامراء، العراق.
1957 - 1967 أكمل دراسته المدرسية للابتدائية والمتوسطة والثانوية في سامراء.
1970 – 1974 درس وتخرج في اكاديمية الفنون الجميلة في جامعة بغداد وكان من ضمن أساتذته والذي درس علي يديهم فنّ السيراميك الفنان اسماعيل فتاح والفنان سعد شاكر.
1974 اشترك في المهرجان الثقافي لجريدة الثورة في بغداد.
1980 اشترك في معرض نيسان السابع على قاعة المتحف الوطني للفن الحديث في بغداد.
1982 اقام معرض شخصي على قاعة الرواق في بغداد.
1984 حاز على شهادة الماجستير في الفنون من جامعة ولاية كاليفورنيا في مدينة لوس أنجلوس، ولاية كاليفورنيا في الولايات المتحدة الإمريكية كما اشترك في العديد من المعارض الفنية خلال فترة اقامته في لوس أنجلوس وحاز على عدة جوائز منها في معارض كاليري السانتامونيكا. كان يتشارك مع الفنان وعميد الكلية "ادوارد فورد" مشغل واحد ينتجون فيها اعمالهم ومنها اعمال مشتركة كبيرة عملوها مع بعض. اقام معرض شخصي في جامعة ولاية كاليفورنيا في مدينة لوس أنجلوس.
1985 حاز على شهادة الماجستير في النحت الفخاري والتزجيج في مدينة لوس أنجلوس، ولاية كاليفورنيا في الولايات المتحدة الإمريكية واقام معرض شخصي في كاليفورنيا في مدينة لوس أنجلوس.

1988 اشترك في مهرجان بغداد العالمي ومعرض لسبعة خزافين على قاعة الاورفلي في بغداد.
1989 اشترك في معرض سومر في بغداد.
1990 اشترك في معرض "الفن العراقي المعاصر" في قبرص ومهرجان انقرا الدولي في تركيا.
1994 اقام معرض شخصي في مركز الفنون في بغداد ومعرض شخصي على قاعة عالية في عمان، الاردن.
1995 اشترك في معرض قاعة 70 × 50 في بيروت، لبنان.
1996 اشترك في معرض اصدقاء فالنتينوس.
1998 اقام معرض شخصي على قاعة حوار في بغداد ومعرض شخصي في المجمع الثقافي في ابو ظبي، الامارات.
2000 اقام معرض شخصي في مركز الفنون في بغداد وعلى قاعة الرواق في المنامة، البحرين واشترك في مهرجان القاهرة الدولي للخزف وفاز بجائزة اللجنة التحكيمية واشترك مع الفنانين قاسم السبتي وعبد الكريم خليل في معرض بعنوان "لون، طين، حجر" على قاعة حوار في بغداد.
2001 اقام معرض شخصي في الاتحاد النسائي العام في ابوظبي وفي المجمع الثقافي في ابو ظبي وعلى قاعة بيسان في الدوحة، قطر.
2002 اشترك في معرض الخزف العربي في الرياض، المملكة السعودية.
2005 اشترك في معرض الفنون التشكيلية العراقي المعاصر في باريس، فرنسا.
2013 اشترك في معرض "فضاءات عراقية - المعرض التشكيلي السنوي المشترك" في جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين في بغداد ومعرض الفن العراقي المعاصر في ملتقى بغداد للفنون التشكيلية "نلون بغداد محبة وسلاما" في دائرة الفنون التشكيلية في بغداد.
2016 اشترك في معرض "خزافون عراقيون" في جمعية الفنانين التشكيليين العراقيين في بغداد.
