1917 Born in Mosul, Iraq, from a family of ancient Daghestani origins. His uncle was Alim Pasha and his father was an engineer working in Germany. He came to Mosul to work with a construction group for the Berlin-Baghdad railway line. After the job was finished, he liked living in Mosul, and after a while, his father chose to pursue a profession in photography in Mosul. His mother was of Armenian roots, and his maternal uncle was the great Iraqi photographer Akob Krikor Pengoyan.
1935 Began his journey with photography.
1940 Studied and graduated from high school in Mosul. He did not complete his studies, as he devoted himself to his profession in photography, where he founded his studio in Mosul.
He was a heavy smoker, which led him to get sick with bronchial cancer. He had to undergo surgery to remove part of his lung. Despite all the suffering, he has continued to produce the most creative photographic works that kept his knowledge and distinctive style renowned; the matter became a milestone of the art for the generations of photographers to come.
1975 Was honored by the President of the Republic in an honorary ceremony held for him in Nineveh. The artist Hisham Sedan made a statue of him. The writer Najman Yassin wrote a book inspired by the artist's life.
1976 Held his first solo exhibition at the hall of the Iraqi Photographers Association in Baghdad, which Tariq Aziz, the Iraqi Minister of Information, inaugurated. For the first time, he displayed large-sized boards of his photos to the audience. That was an astonishing move in the contemporary art photography movement in Iraq at that time.
He participated in the third exhibition of the Iraqi Association of Photography.
A film about him was produced by the artist Abd al-Ilah Hasan and shown on the Iraqi Republic TV. A program on photography was also prepared in Iraq by the Arab Filmmakers Union.
He participated in many exhibitions inside and outside Iraq and won several awards. He is believed to be one of the first photographers in the art of photography in Iraq after Yousef Arshak. He influenced most of the photographers who came after him.
The poet Amjad Mohammad Saeed wrote a poem of lament entitled “Birds of Absence” and was published in Al-Thawra Newspaper a few years before his passing.
1981 A retrospective exhibition was held for him, entitled “The Arab Heritage in Andalusia.”
July 27, 1984 Passed away after his struggle with illness at the age of sixty-seven. He was buried in the city of Mosul, where he lived for all his years.
2020 Artist Haitham Fathallah Aziza published a book about his art called “Murad Al-Daghistani: Between Visual Art and Photographic Formation” by Al-Adib Press in Amman, Jordan.

- 1917 ولد الفنان والمصور مراد عبد الله خلساي الداغستاني في محافظة الموصل في العراق من عائلة ذات أصول داغستانية عريقة، عمه عليم باشا ووالده كان مهندساً يعمل في ألمانيا، جاء إلى الموصل للاشتغال مع فريق إنشاء خط سكة حديد برلين-بغداد وبعدها امتهن التصوير في الموصل. وأم ذات أصول أرمنية وخاله هو المصور الكبير "آكوب كريكور بنجويان".

- 1935 بدأ رحلته بالتصوير الفوتوغرافي.

- 1940 درس وتخرج من الثانوية في الموصل، ولم يكمل بعدها الدراسة لتفرغه لمهنته في التصوير الفوتوغرافي في مدينة الموصل. وأصبح لديه استوديو خاص به هناك.

- كان مفرطاً في التدخين مما أدى إلى إصابته بسرطان القصبات الهوائية، واضطر إلى إجراء عملية جراحية لإزالة جزء من رئته، ورغم معاناته هذه فقد استمر في إنتاج وإبداع أعمال فوتوغرافية خلدت خبرته وأسلوبه المميز والذي أصبح مقصدًا لمن جاء بعده من المصورين.

- 1975 تم تكريمه من قِبل رئيس الجمهورية وأُقيم له في نينوى احتفالاً تكريمياً وتم عمل تمثال له من قِبل الفنان هشام سيدان وكتب الكاتب نجمان ياسين قصة مستوحاة من حياته.

- 1976 أقام أول معرض شخصي له على قاعة جمعية الفوتوغرافيين العراقيين والذي تم افتتاحه من قِبل طارق عزيز وزير الإعلام العراقي. ولأول مرة عرض لوحاته الفوتوغرافية بأحجام كبيرة وهو الأمر الذي أدهش الحضور وأعجبت لقاطاته المبهرة معاصريه من الفوتوغرافيين العراقيين.

- اشترك في المعرض الثالث للجمعية العراقية للتصوير.

- تم إعداد فيلم عنه من قِبل الفنان عبد الإله حسن وتم عرضه على تلفزيون الجمهورية العراقية وتم إعداد برنامج عن الفوتوغراف في العراق من قِبل اتحاد السينمائيين التسجيليين العرب.

- شارك في العديد من المعارض داخل وخارج العراق وحاز على جوائز عدة، ويُعتقد أنه من أوائل محترفي فن التصوير الفوتوغرافي في العراق بعد يوسف أرشاك، وتأثر به أغلب فناني التصوير الفوتوغرافي من بعده.

- كتب عنه الشاعر أمجد محمد سعيد قصيدة رثاء بعنوان "طيور الغياب" ونُشرت في جريدة الثورة قَبل رحيله بسنوات معدودة.

- 1981 أُقيم له معرض استعادي بعنوان "التراث العربي في الأندلس".

- 27 يوليو 1984 توفي الفنان بعد صراع مع المرض عن عمر يناهز السبعة وستين عاماً ودفن في مدينة الموصل التي عاش فيها سنين عمره.

- عضو الجمعية العراقية للتصوير.

- أصدر الفنان هيثم فتح الله عزيزة كتاب عن فنه اسماه "مراد الداغستاني بين الفن البصري والتشكيل الفوتوغرافي" عن مطبعة الأديب في عمان-الأردن عام 2020.
