He was chosen to teach drawing in public schools and remained that way for 19 years. During that time, he became fluent in Arabic and French and practiced drawing from a young age in Mosul city, where he was born. He practiced painting people at the beginning of his work, but he returned to specializing in painting landscapes and still life.
