Dr. Qutaiba was born in Baghdad in 1922 from a well-known Kurdish family , He died as a result of a car accident in 1979. He graduated from the Medical College in Baghdad in 1949. He received his Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery Diploma from the University of London in 1959. He was a prominent surgeon in this field and actively contributed to the Iraqi National Movement He was a painter and a member of the pioneer group in the period 1950-1959. He was president of the Society of Iraqi Plastic Artists of 1972 and 1974. He represented Iraq in the secretariat of the General Federation of Arab Artists in the 1970. He was a member of the one-dimensional group (artist inspired by the letter).
He held Six personal exhibitions of drawing in the National Gallery of Modern Art and the Iraqi Society of Fine Artists in the late 1960s and 1970s. An exhibition was held at the Orfali Hall in Baghdad in 1985 after his death.
He participated in many exhibitions inside and outside Iraq, including the Medical College exhibitions in Baghdad in the 1940s, the open air show in Hampstead, London in the late 1950s, the annual exhibitions of the Pioneers in the 1950s and 1970s, the annual exhibitions of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association, The one-dimensional group exhibitions in the 1970s, the poster exhibition, the contemporary Iraqi art exhibition, the Wasti Art Gallery in Baghdad, the comprehensive Iraqi art exhibition, the first Arab biennial exhibition in Baghdad, the Arab struggle week in Baghdad, Roaming outside Iraq in Poland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Damascus, and all those exhibitions were held in the seventies of the last century.
Qutaiba Sheikh Nuri, presented many lectures, including history of the poster, the artistic features of the poster, the political & Iraqi Poster the philosophical relationship between science and art, Photography, contemporary Spanish art, walls in Andalusia, contemporary Iraqi art.

The doctor presented the creative artist with photographic presentations.
Dr. Hamdi Al-Takmaji, the author of a book on Dr. Qutayba Sheikh Nuri describes him as a dynamic, energetic and intelligent student, a well-known humanist, one of the pioneers of the Iraqi plastic movement, a creative artist in photography and a great master of sculpture, Actively in the national movement. Al-Takmaji said that Qutaiba, Sheikh Nuri, came to a religious father who was at the same time religious and cultural.
