1888 Born in Baghdad, Iraq. He is considered one of the founding Iraqi artists of the Iraqi fine arts movement. He was nicknamed Aba Zaid, relative to his older son, artist Zaid.
He studied art for only one year in the House of Fine Arts in Baghdad, worked as an officer in the Royal Iraqi Army, and became the commander of the Royal Guard during the era of the late King Faisal I. He continued to paint and learn art while roaming Iraq due to his military service duty, and he continued drawing the Iraqi natural landscapes like the mountains, marshes, and countryside.
The artist retired from military service but continued producing oil paintings.
1922 Participated in Souq Okath Festival.
1931 Participated in the Agricultural Industrial Exhibition in the Art Pavilion, where young artists presented many drawings, Arabic calligraphy, and sculptures.
1938 Visited several art museums in several European countries.
He used to spend his summer vacation in Erbil, located in northern Iraq, in the resort of Shaqlawa in Khanzad, or in Amadiyah, which is famous for its beautiful natural scenery.
The artist used to joke and had a sense of humor and tenderness. Many of his conversations were accompanied by beautiful comments and jokes, from the thrilling habits that he used to paint while sitting on the ground, i.e., comfortably lying on the ground, wearing the traditional cap on his head, in front of the oil painting and next to him a group of colors and palette. He checked his artwork, which took a long time to complete on canvas. He often played the oud during his break, enjoying music while looking at his paintings.
1952 Participated in the art exhibition at Ibn Sina Festival, which was held in Baghdad.
1956 Held a solo exhibition in the Hall of the Iraqi Artists Association in Baghdad.
1959 Participated in the exhibition "Modern Iraqi Art" held in the Soviet Union.
He participated in many Iraqi Plastic Artists Association exhibitions, where he was a member.
1973 Passed away in Baghdad, Iraq, at the age of eighty-five and was buried there.

1888 ولد الفنان محمد صالح زكي (وكنيته أبا زيد نسبة لأبنه الأكبر الفنان زيد) مدينة في بغداد العراق، يعتبر من الفنانين العراقيين المؤسسين للحركة التشكيلية العراقية، ولمعت موهبته الفنية عندما خدم كضابط عسكري في اسطنبول بعد التحاقه بالأكاديمية العسكرية.
درس الفن لعام واحد فقط في دار الفنون الجميلة في بغداد وعمل كضابط في الجيش العراقي الملكي وأصبح آمر الحرس الملكي في عهد المرحوم الملك فيصل الأول، وظل يرسم ويتعلم الفن في هذه الفترة أثناء تجواله في كل انحاء العراق بموجب خدمته العسكرية ورسم الطبيعة العراقية كالجبال والاهوار والريف العراقية
تقاعد الفنان من الخدمة العسكرية ولكنه استمر في الرسم بالألوان الزيتية.
1922 شارك في مهرجان سوق عكاظ.
1931 شارك بالمعرض الصناعي الزراعي في جناح الفن التي عرضت فيه الكثير من أعمال الرسم والتخطيط والخط العربي والنحت من قبل الفنانين الشباب.
1938 زار متاحف فنية عديدة في عدة دول اوربية.
كان يقضي اجازته الصيفية في اربيل التي تقع شمال العراق في مصيف شقلاوة في خانزاد او في مدينة العمادية والذين يشتهرون بمناظرهم الطبيعية الخلابة.
كان الرسام محمد صالح زكي منكتا ويميل للفكاهة والتندر والكثير من أحاديثه يرافقها تعليقات ومزاح جميل، من عاداته الاثيرة عليه، ان يرسم وهو جالس على الأرض أي يفترش الأرض بشكل مريح لابسا العرقجين على رأسه وأمامه اللوحة الزيتية وبجانبه مجموعة الالوان والباليت. كان يدقق عند الاشتغال على أعماله الفنية، مما يستغرق فترة طويلة لإكمال لوحة زيتية واحدة. وكثيرا ما كان يعزف على آلة العود في هذه الاستراحة متمتعا بالموسيقى وهو ينظر الى لوحاته الزيتية.
1952 اشترك في المعرض الفني عبر مهرجان ابن سينا الذي اقيم في بغداد.
1956 اقام معرض شخصي على قاعة جمعية الفنانين العراقيين في بغداد.
1959 اشترك في معرض "الفن العراقي الحديث" الذي اقيم في الاتحاد السوفيتي.
اشترك في معارض جمعية الفنانين التشكيلين العراقيين حيث كان عضو فيها.
1973 توفى الفنان في بغداد في العراق عن عمر يناهز الخمسة وثمانون عاماً ودفن فيها.
